The departure of American Idol, Simon Cowell has certainly caused a stir of Twitter reactions. There were approximately 1500 opinion Tweets according to Crimson Hexagon with various responses. Some even being mad that CNN labelled this as breaking news. The breakdown of reactions were as follows:

Microsoft in the dog box

The 11 January 2010 marks the day the US court placed an injunction on Microsoft forbidding the sale of Microsoft Word (office 2003 and 2007). The initial injunction was ordered in August 2009 but CNET and ComputerWorld claim that most versions of Microsoft Office were unavailable from their online store. The standard version of Office 2003 is still available and the professional version should be available to subscribers soon.

Word of the Decade is… Google

“Google” has been named the word of the decade and “Twitter” the word of the year (2009) by The American Dialect Society. This occurred after Bing said that “Twitter” is the most popular word for 2009 and the word “unfriend” meaning to remove someone as a Facebook friend is the word of the year according to the Oxford Dictionary.

Facebook has officially announced that users will now be able to update both their Facebook page and Twitter updates at the same time. Users that update their Facebook page will now have the option to share their updates with their Twitter followers. Facebook users will also be able to regulate which updates they would like to share on Facebook such as photos, link, events etc.

New application for Android Powered phones

Android users will be pleased to hear that Google has launched a new application called Google Listen. This application allows you to search quickly through web audio content which you can then download or stream directly to your phone anytime, anywhere.
