Remember to tag your posts

Question:

Why should I create tags with each post that I publish?

Answer:

Each post that you publish usually has a central idea that you want to bring across to your readers. It is a good idea to tag each post with the main keywords of each post. What good will tagging do?

Tags are stored as HTML and search engine spiders read these tags a lot easier than they do the content of your blog. When spiders crawl your blog they take into account tags as well as the content when deciding to rank your blog on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

Every tag that you make also gets added to your tag cloud. So the more tags you make the bigger and busier your tag cloud will get.

WordPress makes tagging easy. Within the interface of WordPress, below where you put the body of  your blog post is the “Tags” field. Place all your tagwords in this field and when you publish the post, the tag will be added to the post and to the Tag Cloud of your blog.

The image above shows you where to place tags in your WordPress blog the next time you publish. Remember keep your tag words as descriptive and concise as possible.
