Popes using social media to spread the gospel

Pope Benedict XVI of the Catholic Church has announced that they should spread the gospel not only with a website but by blogging and using the communication tools available on the internet. Pope Benedict is the 265th Pope of the Catholic Church and uses social media to quite an extent. In 2009 he launched a YouTube channel and about 6 months ago released Facebook and iPhone applications to spread the message of the church.

In his messages he says that priests will face new challenges and cultural shifts and therefore they should do more than take the gospel to the web. Although the pope is not on Twitter his Pope2you initiative is a step in the right direction.
